Things to know

!

Trustpilot has anti-scraping measures including CAPTCHAs and rate limits. Use Apify's residential proxies and keep requests under 2,000 reviews per run.

!

Review dates may not reflect the actual experience date — Trustpilot allows backdating reviews. Use the review date as-is but note this limitation.

!

Some reviews may be incentivized or fake. Trustpilot flags suspicious reviews but doesn't remove all of them. Cross-reference with other platforms for accuracy.

Common questions

Trustpilot reviews are publicly accessible. Scraping public review data for competitive analysis is generally permissible under the hiQ v. LinkedIn precedent. However, Trustpilot's ToS prohibit automated access. Use data for internal research, not for republishing reviews on your own site without attribution.
Yes. The scraper captures the verification status of each review. Trustpilot marks reviews as 'verified' when the reviewer can prove they're a real customer. Filter for verified reviews to get higher-quality sentiment data.
TrustScore is Trustpilot's weighted average that factors in review recency, volume, and star distribution. It's not a simple average — recent reviews have more weight. The scraper captures both TrustScore and the raw rating distribution so you can do your own analysis.
The scraper captures a snapshot. To track trends, schedule regular scrapes (weekly or monthly) and compare TrustScores and review volume over time. Build a simple time series in your CRM to visualize rating trajectories.
It varies enormously. Small B2B SaaS companies might have 50-200 reviews. Enterprise software (Salesforce, HubSpot) has 5,000-20,000. Consumer brands can have 100,000+. For competitive analysis, even 100+ reviews provide meaningful sentiment data.
