What you can build with this

Community intelligence

Monitor niche Telegram channels where your ICP discusses tools, strategies, and pain points. Extract insights for product development and content creation.

Crypto & fintech monitoring

Telegram is the primary communication channel for crypto and fintech communities. Scrape channels for market sentiment, project discussions, and trading signals.

Competitor channel monitoring

Track competitor Telegram channels for product updates, community sentiment, and support issues. Get real-time competitive intelligence.

Influence network mapping

Track message forwards between channels to understand which channels drive conversations and which are amplifiers. Map the influence network in your niche.

Things to know

!

Only public channels and groups can be scraped. Private groups require an invite link and membership. Never scrape private communications without explicit consent.

!

Telegram channels in certain industries (crypto, trading) may contain spam or misleading information. Validate data quality before using for business decisions.

!

Large channels with 100K+ messages will take significant time and cost to fully scrape. Use date range filters to limit scope.

Common questions

Scraping public Telegram channels is generally permissible, as the content is publicly accessible. Telegram's ToS are relatively permissive compared to other platforms. However, scraping private groups without consent may violate privacy laws. Always comply with GDPR/CCPA when storing personal data from Telegram.
Private groups can only be accessed if you're a member. The scraper can access private groups using your Telegram session, but this should only be done with the group admin's knowledge and consent. For most use cases, public channels provide sufficient intelligence.
Use Telegram channel directories like Tgstat, TelegramChannels, or search within the Telegram app. For niche communities, look for channels mentioned in Twitter/X bios, blog posts, and community forums. Many SaaS products and crypto projects maintain official Telegram channels.
Member lists are not publicly accessible for most Telegram groups and channels. You can see member counts and identify active participants from their messages, but full member list extraction is restricted by Telegram's privacy settings.
Telegram is easier to scrape than Discord. Public channels are more accessible, message formats are simpler, and Telegram's API is more permissive. Discord requires more complex authentication. If your ICP uses both, Telegram data is typically easier and cheaper to collect.
