What you can build with this

Visual content research

Analyze which visual styles, color palettes, and formats get the most saves on Pinterest. Use findings to inform your own graphic design and carousel creation.

Competitor board monitoring

Track competitor Pinterest boards to see what products they promote, which blog posts they pin, and how their visual strategy evolves over time.

Product trend discovery

Search Pinterest for your product category to find trending items, popular price points, and emerging styles before they hit mainstream channels.

SEO keyword research

Pinterest pin titles and descriptions reveal how real people describe products and ideas — mine this data for long-tail keyword opportunities.

Things to know

!

Pinterest image URLs from the CDN are generally stable but can change if the pinner re-uploads. Download images promptly for archival purposes.

!

Pinterest search results are personalized — the same query returns different results for different users. Use Apify's scraper for consistent, non-personalized results.

!

Save counts are approximate for very popular pins (Pinterest rounds to nearest thousand above 10K). Comment counts are always exact.

Common questions

Scraping publicly available Pinterest data is generally permissible for research and competitive analysis. Pinterest's ToS restrict automated access, but Apify handles technical compliance. Use data responsibly — don't re-pin scraped content as your own or use personal data for targeting without consent. Comply with GDPR/CCPA for any stored personal information.
No. Only public pins and boards are accessible. Private boards and secret pins are not visible to scrapers. If a user's profile is set to private, their boards and pins won't be accessible either.
Save counts are accurate for pins under 10,000 saves. Above that, Pinterest rounds numbers (e.g., '12.4K' instead of exact count). The scraper returns the displayed number. For competitive analysis, the relative ranking is what matters, not exact counts.
The scraper can extract the destination URL each pin links to, but not actual click-through counts. Click data is only available to the pin creator through Pinterest Analytics. You can infer traffic by correlating high-save pins with source URL performance in your own analytics.
For trend research, weekly scrapes capture fast-moving visual trends. For competitor monitoring, bi-weekly is sufficient. For product research, monthly scrapes work well. Pinterest moves slower than Twitter or TikTok, so you don't need daily scrapes.
